Really Didnt Like Interview Process

First,,Ronald C Buchanan Jr knocked on my door without calling at 4pm.No appt set ..No Notification...Then he asked me for my medications and wrote them down.Dont like the way anything was handled..he put everything in his computer..It was all medical questions. I thought there w ere no medical questions...Will not be doing business with this company. He kept pushing to close the deal..Instead of being there a few minutes, he was here more than an hour to show me a video that didn't include me. He kept trying to get commitment on the spot. I told him I was not sure and he still kept pressing to close deal

How Senior Life Rips Its Agents Off By Bogus lead Charge!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I went to work for Senior Life on Ist week of April. I was with them 4 days before I saw the writing on the wall.

1st they game me leads that I did not want and I did not want them because the clients spoke Spanish and did not understand enough English in order for me to do a presentation. I was told I could pick my leads, which was not true, once they gave me the leads I did not want, they would not take them back....I quit as this is not ethical. They charge 1120.00 to me for 30 leads and 20 of them were clients asking for a Spanish speaking agent. Some had wrong contact and address information yet I was told these were fresh leads.

This is a sorry company that is making its living on the Agents back. If a class action is bought about I will be more than happy to get in and help start it.

Enlightened me as to the character of the company.

So, pray tell---how did you reckon your loss was $1375?

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Machele Imf

seemed like $37 per lead and probably travel (gas) expenses but this is pure speculation. I was offered a Vice President position via phone call, which seemed odd.

They painted a picture that once the commercial aired anyone who was interested, that called in, went directly to an agent like Uber, and then they said, "How much would that lead be worth to you?" That stuck with me because yes it's a lead, but it's not a QUALIFIED LEAD. If you've ever worked in sales, you'd know there's a HUGE difference!!!

I feel sorry for the agent and I'm refusing the position (which I never sought out, since I'm quite content where I am). This helped me make my decision so THANK YOU ALL!!!!

Policy and payment

June 2017 I signed up for life insurance. Rep Elizabeth Eaddy said she would bring policy back once process was done. Have not received it yet. May 2018 requested to change due date now I have been charged twice in June 2018. Receive a letter to get policy online for a fee. Not a happy customer right now. Bad service

Each time I see the Senior Life TV ad I ask myself, how is this a sustainable business model? They say, if no life insurance claim is paid out, then they will refund to you the full premium for that policy period.

How is this a sustsinable business model. Buyer beware!

Very easily. It's called a Return of Premium feature.

Any insurer offering this product charges more premium for the same level of coverage than if it did not have this feature. In addition, every insurance company has what is called a float.

Any premium dollars collected that are not paid out as claims, is invested. The interest compounds and grows the assets of the company exponentially.

Guest

I do not have this insurance and your question is a valid one. My guess is and I may be incorrect...

but if they are receiving monthly premiums they could be investing money and receiving interest over years making it a positive cash flow. Like buying government CD's.This is not an to say it is a good investment.

Appreciation

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Keep seeing television ads for Senior Life stating return of premiums . I have heard all of my life that if something sounds too good to be true it probably is . In my experience it's always true. That adage has kept me from being robbed many times. I appreciate the reviews I've read here and am sorry for those who lost their money and trust over tricky practices.

I am a Life accident and health insurance agent. While researching Senior Life, I came across this conversation.

Also I am not affiliated with them. Yet after looking at what they offer and writing policies myself it is true a whole life policy has the option of a return of premium rider. It’s actually very common and it’s not too good to be true.

It’s possible that maybe you had an agent that wasn’t very experienced...? And again I do work for another companyWhich is not in any shape way or form associated with senior life

Yes, it is true that there are whole life policies that allow return premiums. However, if anyone feels they have been violated in any area of any type of policy, you can contact the insurance commission in your state.

Senior Life Insurance Company is not an honorable company

My son was approved for Life Insurance coverage automatically without medical exam, this is what the company advertised. Upon his death we were informed they would review medical records, in which they denied designated beneficiary claim. This company is not honorable!

I am having the same issue as it relates to my mother's passing. It has been two months and they are still "supposedly" investigating medical records.

My next step is to obtain a lawyer in hopes of a class action suit against their company.

They are true scammers. I'm willing to do whatever to ensure this company shuts down.

Leads gimmick

The company sells worthless leads for top dollar to agent after agent year after year. Company lets you buy them on credit and then you owe your soul to the company store. Eventually when you quit the company keeps all your earnings and reports your leads bill to a credit agency to force you to pay it back. Extortion, conspiracy, racketeering.

Tv add misleading

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

called about add on tv,add stated that senior life had a policy that would return your premiums, since you don't get any interest on bank money,I felt that insurance would be a safe place to get coverage and also get the premiums paid returned. so, after receiving the policy 11 days after first premium draft,I realized that I did not get what I had called for,the person on the line would not explain the details but was very nice .

so after calling to get permission to cancel,I signed it and mailed it back to Thomasville Ga. within thirty days from my initial phone call to purchase the policy, come to find out that Seniorlife is not for people over 60.. that why the agent put me in something else ,just so a commission check would pay, knowing that I requested a different product. another premium draft hit my account, called them and there answer was that I needed to cancel 20 days after initial purchase in writing!!!!,,never was returned my premiums,$284.00 and 4 mo.

later still being billed for something called legacy insurance MY NAME KEITH BRANYAN AND MY PHONE NO. IS 706 817 ****

The ad on TV says, if still alive at end of term, all the money paid will be returned! They have about 12 different policys!

Only the term policy, returns money paid! GROSS MISREPRESENTATION!

I only dealt with someone about rates...it became clear to me immediately that their only concern was how I was going to pay. I told the man I wasn't ready to sign up for a policy, rather I was just wanting rates for comparisons.

He had already asked twice about payment after he quoted the rates...he then told me to go ahead and give him my debit card number and he'd get a policy together, then I could cancel and get a refund if I decided I didn't want to keep the insurance. He was too aggressive for me. It is obvious these people are in sales and work on commission for a real insurance company.

I finally just hung up on him. Beware people!

About life insurance agents

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Not all agents are unethical and yes, we are all commissioned-based so making a sale is necessary to put food on the table but doing the right thing for the client is the best policy. Customers please note: 1.

Familiarize yourself with the types of life insurance and how they work. All you have to do is Google it. 2. Be honest about your health so the agent can shop the right policy for you.

Certain illnesses may disqualify you for life insurance and there are some companies that may issue you a "graded" policy if your health is less than perfect. 3. NEVER allow any agent to replace your policy. If the policy is more than two years old, the insurance company must pay the face amount, by law.

If the policy is less than two years old, they can "contest" it. If it was a "clean" application (meaning you did not hide any health issues) then it will most likely payout. If not, usually they will refund the premiums you paid to your beneficiary. 4.

Figure out how your passing will affect your spouse and where the money will come from to cover your final expenses and your dependent future expenses. If what you have is not enough, then I suggest you shop around and ADD an additional policy...do not replace your current policy with a new one. Why? Because as you age, the rates go up and may require a much higher premium.

Better to pay a higher premium on a new policy than to cancel the old and then pay a higher premium on a higher face amount. 5.

Finally, talk to your friends and family to see if they can refer you to an agent they are happy with; if not, give me a call if you live in the greater Orlando area. William velasco 917-652-****

Be aware of this company and due your investigation before joining them

Be aware of this company and due your investigation before joining them, they are thief’s, dishonest and they like to deceive people. Thy sell you burial insurance with no question asked, and in fact it is life insurance not burial insurance. After you join and pay your money if your loved ones dies before 2 years of pay , they come and dig their medical records after the fact and they come up with something not to pay, If this is honest company they should check the medical record and deny the insured before not after the death, FYI they will pay only your premiums no interest no extra penny they will make money of your money and they will not give to you, please read their policy before signing up with them They are rip-off company.

"Burial Insurance" and Life Insurance are one in the same....the whole point is to have something in place for your family to take care of your final wishes as well as to help out those left behind once you are gone if that is necessary. All Life Insurance companies by law have a 2 year contestability period where if the insured dies the company BY LAW has the right to check and make sure that the insured told the truth on their application ...SL does not put their customers on a 2 year wait like most companies do.

You receive day one coverage if you quality for it. If you do not qualify for day one coverage, then the accidental death portion of your coverage is day one, if you die from a natural death then 110% of the premiums paid in are paid back to the beneficiary.

There is no dishonesty, either you didn't listen or it wasn't explained properly, but there was no thievery or dishonesty. There are laws in place to protect the insurer as well as the insured.

These comments are exactly right. Reality is, more than most detest even the thought of life insurance period, let alone "final expense"/death benefit...consequently, many many people skim over details about these products, half listen when being presented to, and never ever really read all of the documentation they have been given until there is a need.

And that's just the truth of it....myself included..most of my life.

Then you add older peoples challenges to comprehend due to aging issues and that doesnt help either. Is what it is, but at the end of the day, the agent and data systems must insure that the customer has every opportunity to realize what they are buying during the sale and what they have purchased after the sale.

You all are stealing from people legally it's wrong and heartless anything to get over on innocent people who need something so they don't have to worry about their family when they are gone not only are the families going through trama of loosing a loved then you all are not paying out everything you pretend to care about is a lie only thing you all care about is the millions you make off scamming and were your next millions are gonna come from

I have sold insurance for over 43 years in the insurance business. I sale for Senior life .

For your information. .get over your self.

Guest

Supposedly there is no waiting period with Senior Life, so how do you explain that?

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1321877

Most insurance companies give you first day coverage without the 2 year waiting period. Unfortunately, there is whats called the 2 year contestability period that allows the insurance company to look up medical records to see if you were honest on your application.

YES, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? CONSUMERS LIE TOO!!! Insurance companies pull whats called an MIB (Medical Information Bureau) when you first apply. We will call this the credit report of your prescription health history.

It doesn't always reflect everything and it can't tell if you are a smoker or non smoker but its pretty accurate for the most part.

Here is one of Senior Life's selling points to recruit new agents..."No MIB check"

That is basically telling the agent to go ahead and lie all you want on the application because nobody is going to look. That can be good for someone that has to get a guaranteed issue or a graded / modified policy. But only if they survive 2 years from the issue date. If you think about it, its worth the risk of lying because if you have serious health conditions you will have the 2 year waiting period ANYWAY.

Why pay the high premiums of a policy like that? Yes, not only is there a waiting period but the premiums are way higher on any guaranteed issue. I would lie and take my chances with the lower premium. If you die within the first 2 years it will be the same outcome.

If you lie and survive the 2 years you will have lower premiums and the insurance company must pay because by law you are past the 2 year contestability period. So, its a gamble, really. Someone gets to win and someone must lose. Will it be you or the insurance company?

One more thing...since we are on the subject of Senior Life..Why does Senior Life have a 3 year waiting period on guaranteed issue?

I've never seen any company do that. A few things Senior life does that I'm curious about....

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1365339

Some more facts about Senior Life.. The commission structure for agents incentivizes agents to sell the mostly costly insurance to the client even though the client qualifies for a lower cost preferred policy....

They pay the agent the most comp on a standard or graded death policy and pay the agent much less comp on a preferred policy......so what do you think the agent is going to sell?

I am too an experienced agent ( Not Senior Life) and Senior Life Insurance plans are the most costly in the industry.... With Senior Lifes pricing many people will pay into a policy thousands and thousands more than their beneficiaries will get back......in short it is a rip off...way too expensive.

Jaylianna Fdi

Wow....you truly are a "professional " and sound just like a real person of great integrity.....NOT!! "Get over yourself" needs to become Senior Life Ins motto....." Get over yourself, because we'll get over on you"!

Yes! That says it all.

Present this motto idea to your superiors, I'm sure there will be a "bonus" in it for you for bringing the true light of this bait and switch true to life thieves you all are. Good day!!

Not true. Policies have a 2 year contestability period, not a pre-existing condition period.

Where did you learn your English and grammar ? They are not a great company, They are neither, old, large, safe nor mutual. These are the 4 things to look for in a life insurance company. The only rating service that rates them is Weiss out of Florida.

They give Senior Life a D+. Who would buy insurance from such a poorly rated company? The ratings are for financial strength and claims paying ability.

Look for a Comdex rating of 90 or above, always ! Appears to be a terrible little company.

How can you get life and health insurance confused. Insurance contracts require signatures, some companies (more paper work than others).

Never sign documentation you have not looked at first. I'm addition the name Senior "life insurance" should have been a clue.

I hate you experienced that. Contrary to one bad experience, this company has helped a great deal of families including my own.
